How do you pay for NJ Transit bus?
Pay Your Fare Most local buses require exact change in coins or $1 bills. NJ TRANSIT light rail systems utilize a “proof of payment” fare collection system. An activated ticket, monthly pass, transfer, or continuing trip ticket receipt is considered proof of payment.

How long before NJ TRANSIT tickets expire?
One-way and round-trip mobile tickets do not expire. They are valid until activated. FLEXPASS is valid for 30 days from and including the date of purchase. All tickets associated with a FLEXPASS must be used before the 30-calendar day expiry.

No beverages of any kind, in any type of container, open or closed, will be permitted on board trains, buses or light rail vehicles during this time. This policy will be strictly enforced.
